Remembering Vern Gaddye: Heart of the Glanbrook Rangers

Today, the Glanbrook Rangers Jr C Hockey Team honors the life of a long-time team executive member, Laverne (Vern) Gaddye who passed away after a brief illness on May 15, 2025.
Vern wasn’t just a part of Glanbrook Rangers, his presence was felt in every corner of the arena where his heart beat in sync with the team.
Since 1999, Vern gave everything he had to the team holding many roles on the executive. Not for recognition, but because he believed in the team, in the power of sport, and in supporting young people.
You could find Vern tirelessly generating sponsorships, fundraising, silently working behind the scenes or sitting proudly in the stands cheering loudly. He showed up year after year, with a dedication and an energy that inspired everyone around him. He never sought applause, but his commitment and work was worthy of a standing ovation.
His contributions didn’t go unnoticed and in 2018, Vern was awarded the Ontario Hockey Association’s Crystal Puck Award, recognizing his incredible service and commitment to the game. It was a well-deserved honour for a man who always went above and beyond.
Vern’s passing leaves a legacy of service and spirit that will live on in every game played, every fundraiser held and every person who decides to step up and give back, just like Vern.
Our deepest condolences goes to the Gaddye family and to all those lives Vern touched.
You’ll be missed Vern, and we’ll keep cheering, keep building, and keep showing up, just like you taught us.
