FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN KEEPS RANGERS IN RANGE

Sean Golebiowski notched the winner in Glanbrook's 4-3 triumph over Hagersville. It was his eighth goal in a six-game scoring streak.

HAGERSVILLE (Feb. 12) — The Glanbrook Rangers extended their winning streak to four games and kept themselves in tight with the Bloomfield Division leaders as they rallied for a 4-3 triumph over the Hagersville Hawks.   The Rangers stand in third place, just two points behind the first place Grimsby Peach Kings and a mere point behind the Dundas Blues who hold down the second spot.  Both Grimsby and Dundas hold a game in hand on the Rangers, but the current alignment promises a dramatic showdown for the title as Glanbrook will face their rivals in their final two games of the 2021-22 campaign.

Sean Golebiowski, for the second game in a row, netted the winning tally for Glanbrook, capping off a rally that saw the Rangers rebound from a 3-2 third-period deficit.   Jason Horvat staked the Hawks to a 1-0 first period margin, but Joel Wallace, with his fifth goal of the season, replied just 10 seconds into the second period to square things up.  Defenceman Daniel Vella added his third goal at 5:51 to give Glanbrook the lead, but they couldn’t hold it for long as Nathan Plummer tied it on a powerplay at 10:19 of the second.   Horvat contributed his second goal of the game in the opening minute of the third period to re-establish a 3-2 Hagersville advantage.

Although they sit on the bottom rung of the Bloomfield Division with a mere four wins, the Hawks have been a nuisance for the Rangers this season.  Their four meetings so far have been tightly contested battles:  three have been decided by single goals, one game was a tie and the others were settled in overtime with Glanbrook and Hagersville trading 1-0 decisions.   The teams meet for the final time on Wednesday, Feb. 16.

Karter Doohan ignited the Rangers’ comeback with his first goal of the season at 2:40, setting the stage for the winner by Golebiowski, who has scored in six straight games to bring his team-leading total to 14.   Mitchell Robinson turned aside 35 shots to record his eighth win.
